J.Hilburn joined ByDesign as a start-up in 2007. They had a big vision — to provide a highly customized garment to the everyday person; and to disrupt the supply chain, in a way that would fundamentally change the antiquated way the garments industry has been operating for years.

At that time, they had ~50 stylist that were handwriting measurements and then faxing them into the office. A team of individuals in the office would take those measurements and transcribe them into a spreadsheet and then send them on to the factory. The process was extremely manual and J. Hilburn knew that to help them scale, they would need technology to facilitate their processes.
